The
Census Bureau states that 75% of businesses in the
U.S. have no payroll. Most of these businesses are
operated by sole proprietors; many of these are a
secondary source of income.
This
month we salute small businesses and offer
O-Tips to help your business thrive. We can
not eliminate your competition, but we can get rid
of your clutter to make you more
efficient.

The
Supply Room
|
|

|
|

Your
"supply room" may be a shelf in your
bedroom closet or a storage room in a
commercial building. If you are wasting
time looking for paper clips, toner, or
envelopes-it is time to organize your
supplies.
Take
advantage of empty wall space by adding
shelves for vertical storage. Do not just
stack items on a shelf. Utilize literature
sorters for easy access and group all
"like" items together. Shipping supplies,
letterhead and envelopes, and desk
supplies (i.e. staples, tape, and paper
clips) should be organized in separate
zones.
Storing
Filing Supplies
It
is best to use only one motion when
performing a task if possible. Remove
hanging files and file folders from the
box and store vertically in file box. No
more lifting out the box, opening up the
box, and getting needed folder. It just
takes one step to retrieve your needed
folder. Now the time you save looking for
needed supplies is YOURS!

June
14 Is Family History Day
|
|

|
|

Use
this day to travel in time. Ask your
parents or grandparents about your
family's past and make a record of the
information. Create a "Family Genealogy"
file if you have not already.
Keep
those old, treasured photographs stored in
archival safe, acid-free, boxes. Just
because a box is labeled 'photo box' does
not mean it will preserve your photos. It
is only meant to contain them. To ensure
preservation, never place framed photos in
direct sunlight.
If
you want to begin your search into your
family's past, the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
offers
a great internet starting point. Other
programs are available to chart your own
family tree. Once you begin, share
information with relatives and you will be
amazed how far back your history can be
traced.

Wardrobe
Organizing Workshop June 24
|
|
|
|
- "Get
Your Wardrobe Together"
Workshop
- Organized
Living
- 110
S. Fairfax Los Angeles
- June
24
- 6:00
- 7:30 pm
An
individual's success often is impacted by
the professional image projected. Do you
have difficulty matching your attire each
day? If getting dressed each morning makes
you late for the first appointment, then
this workshop is a must.
Chris
McKenry, Los Angeles' premier
professional organizer and owner of Get
It Together LA, will conduct a free
"Get Your Clothes Together Workshop"
on June 24. This interactive class
will address how and where to get rid of
unwanted items. Space planning, proper
folding techniques and simple organizing
solutions will be provided.
Since
we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the
time, clear out closets and drawers of the
unused items. If the height of the closet
rod allows, utilize a double hang area for
short hang items. Sort clothes by type
(dresses, suits, pants, shirts, etc) and
color; and use uniform hangers to make
your wardrobe easier to view. Now the
ensemble combinations are increased and in
sight. Placing shoes on racks, or shelves,
sorted by style and color make for easy
viewing and quick decisions. All this and
more will be addressed on June
24.
See
how the professionals organize closets to
make the most of space. Discover what
works and what does not. Bring pictures of
your closets and your questions for
specific help. Make the commitment to get
organized and getting dressed will be a
breeze. For more information call
323-525-0678
